It's more useful when a string is too long to fit into a single line, or if it is formatted or repetitive in a way that it makes sense to write corresponding parts below each other (example: ASCII art). In this particular example it is completely useless (well, maybe it emphasizes the "1" which may be important and distinct from "0" elsewhere).
